Frequently Asked Questions

What level of riding ability do I need to have?

We want you to be as safe as possible, so some of our riding tours have restrictions in terms of riding levels. We've labelled each tour clearly using the guide below to ensure you get the most out of your holiday!

  • Beginner: You've never been riding before or have only done it once or twice.
  • Novice: You have some riding experience mostly trekking at a walk or a trot.
  • Good Novice: You are a brave rider. You ride occasionally and can canter safely on a horse.
  • Intermediate: You ride horses regularly (or used to). You are confident on different horses. You can canter and be in control at a gallop.
  • Advanced: You ride everyday. You are confident on different horses. You compete at a high level in dressage, endurance, show jumping and other disciplines.

Can I bring my family on a riding holiday?

As a mother of two, I love to take my children on our horse riding tours. We have put together some kick ass rides that will accomodate to families.

We've listed the recommended age limits on our tours. Please take care to check these as a few rides are not suitable for very young children.

Alternatively, if you want to bring your family on holiday but they're not keen to ride, they can join you as a non-rider. If you would like some suggestions, please contact us and we can advise on the best holiday for your family.

I am a solo rider, can I go by myself?

Most of our clients go on their own! When you get there, you will quickly make life-long friends with fellow riders. Go for it!

Do you provide transfers from airports to rides?

This varies with each tour. In some cases it will be covered for you and others will be an extra charge. Each itinerary will list whether transfers are included or not.

Should I get insurance before I go on a riding tour?

We recommend that each rider has insurance while on their holiday. While we ensure the rides are safe, horse riding is a dangerous activity and you need to be prepared for anything to happen. Make sure you tell your insurance company that you are going on a horse riding holiday.

Do I have to wear a helmet? Will you provide one if I don't have my own?

For most of our horse rides, wearing a helmet is compulsory. It's important for you to follow the regulations in order to avoid any accidents. Your safety is our priority.

I want to travel with a group - do you offer discounts?

Riding tours make an awesome birthday or hen's/stag party! We'd love to talk about organising a group discount for you. Please contact us at info@rideawayglobal.com to find out more!

Are any of your riding tours less than a week?

Some of our holidays offer less days. If none of the tours listed suit your needs, please contact us and we can discuss alternative horse riding arrangements for you.

How should I prepare for a horse riding tour?

If you don't ride regularly, please do some training to avoid getting sore. Pilates is a great option. If possible, see if you can ride before attending a horse riding holiday. If you are pushed for time or can't gain access to a ride beforehand - no biggy! You'll certainly feel your muscles on the first day. From the second day onwards - you'll be good to go!

What do I need to bring with me?

If you're an experienced rider - you will probably have an idea of what to bring!

If not, don't stress. When you book, we will send you a full list of recommended items to take along with you.

What kind of bag should I take?

Make sure you bring a bag rather than a hard suitcase. On some of the rides, your bag will be taken for you. Bags are much easier to transport.

If you are going on an international horse riding tour, we recommend you put some equipment in your carry on bag.

Can I arrive a few days prior to the ride?

Of course! In fact - we recommend you explore the area. On some rides, you can stay longer for an extra fee. Contact us if you'd like to know more.

Will you book flights to my tour for me?

Unfortunately, we only look after the horse riding tour part of your holiday. However, we will let you know which airport to fly into and the recommended arrival time based on the tour you have booked.

Do your riding tours cater for vegetarians?

Most of our rides cater for a variety of dietary needs. Please contact us to check beforehand! We will do our best to make it work for you.

How many people will be on the tour with me?

Our group sizes vary from a minimum of 2 to a maximum of 8-12 people per horse riding tour. However, some rides have a specific criteria. On each tour page, you will see information on the likely group size.
