Ride purebred Friesian stallions of the highest quality on one of the few large stretches of undeveloped coastline remaining in Spain.

About The Ride

This ride proposes enthusiasts of baroque horses the chance to ride purebred Friesian stallions of the highest quality on one of the few large stretches of undeveloped coastline remaining in Spain.

The Friesian horse is a powerful, gentle breed of unquestionable courage.

The stallions available for clients are very sensitive, affectionate and respectful to handle.

The stud farm has around 80 horses, of which 15 stallions are utilized for dressage lessons and beach riding.

Based in the picturesque Costa del Azahar, this exclusive riding holiday offers a combination of riding and cultural activities.

Guests are directly involved in helping with the preparation and washing down of their horses, which belong to a prestigious stud that breeds and trains primarily for international showing.

The two packages offer a combination of dressage lessons and beach riding.

If you have ever imagined what it might be like to ride a medieval warhorse into battle– this is the experience for you.

Galloping astride a fit Friesian horse, with waves crashing beside you, it really is just as incredible as you imagine it would be!

Unforgettable and life-changing is how one of our clients described the experience.

Package 1 - Black Stallions and Beach Yoga

This package includes two dressage lessons on purebred Friesian stallions and an exhilarating morning of beach riding at the delta.

The horses are groomed and transported to a nearby natural reserve, where you will saddle them and spend the morning riding through along the beach, past the estuary and sand dunes.

You will have the chance to enjoy exciting canters through the water and the open sand flats. Accommodation for this trip is a private beach house with swimming pool and outdoor areas for relaxation.

The villa is RIGHT on the beach, so you will fall asleep listening to the waves lapping gently on the shore and rise to spectacular colors at dawn.

Rooms are shared (single supplement on request). The entire trip is organized and hosted by Matilda and her colleague Sara. They are two friendly Swedish women who own a house in the area and warmly share their passion for horses and Spanish culture with guests. From the moment you arrive until the morning you depart, Matilda and Sara will organize everything. Sometimes this includes special extra activities such as specialist beauty treatments, Instagram-worthy photo shoots and private wine tastings with a sommelier.

Itinerary

Day one:

Arrive after lunch. Meet and greet with your hosts. Settle in and at sunset Sara will host a relaxing yoga session. You will enjoy an aperitif followed by Spanish dinner in the villa with your hosts who will go through the week’s activities and riding with you.

Day two:

Early start with a sunrise yoga session up the mountains (transfer by car).

Breakfast is served at Mathilda’s restored farmhouse in the mountains.

Lunch is back at the beach villa in the garden. There is time to relax, wander into the village or take a swim in the ocean.

After lunch you are transferred to the stables where you will be introduced to your black stallion for the lesson. The stables request that guests help with grooming and saddling before and after the ride to really get to know the horses.

This is a fantastic experience, and a great way to become acquainted with the staff and horses. The lessons take part in one of two arenas on the property.

After the ride is over, you will be returned to the villa for a quick shower before dinner and drinks in the garden.

Day three:

Early start with a sunrise yoga session at the beach. Buffet breakfast and the chance to take an extra lesson if desired. Lunch is back at the beach villa in the garden then you will return to the stables for another dressage lesson. This lesson is more in-depth.

A continuation of what was learnt the day before as well as being useful preparation for tomorrows fast beach ride. After the ride is over, return to the villa for a quick shower before dinner (either at home or in the village at a restaurant).

Day four:

Early start (the perfect excuse to enjoy the wonderful sunrise colors). Buffet breakfast is served in the garden followed by a transfer to the stables.

Meet your horses and groom them. Horses are then loaded into the lorry and riders follow by car to the Delta park.

The estuaries, salt pans, lagoons and marshes are full of birdlife. Enjoy watching the flamingos as and maybe you will even see one of the free-roaming herds of Camargue horses that were released here.

Once at the beach everyone prepares the horses and departs together.

The riding is fast yet controlled due to the high training of the horses. There are ample opportunities to let the horses stretch out at the canter and splash about in the water (don’t wear your expensive boots for this ride!).

The movement of the Friesian horses is mesmerizing to experience. The high leg action and enormous power are perfectly contained thanks to the high level of training these horses receive.

Return home around lunchtime deliriously happy after the last ride for a delicious Spanish picnic and siesta/swim in the ocean.

Later in the day Sara hosts a special yoga session to help everyone wind down. After shower, the wonderful Catalonian chefs arrive to begin cooking a delicious Paella meal. Everyone is encouraged to take part and bottles of Cava are popped opened to enjoy whilst cooking.

Dinner is at the house eating the amazing Paella you have just prepared with your new friends and hosts. A fantastic finale to a wonderful day riding!

Day Five:

Buffet breakfast outside the villa. Transfer to the airport or train station.
