Your Itinerary

Evening Day One November 13th

Meet and greet. Pick up from Launceston city and airport at approx. 4pm and transfer to Bonney’s Inn, a historic bed and breakfast on the riverfront in Deloraine.  After settling in join your tour hosts of Australian Horse Adventures and acclaimed horse trainer, Carlos Tabernaberri for drinks and nibbles in the dining area and be inspired about the next few days of education and saddle time. Absorb yourself in an evening session on horse psychology with Carlos Tabernaberri.

Day two 14th Thursday

Enjoy a hearty cooked breakfast at Bonneys Inn before your welcome to “The Gem” Farm. Settle into a session on “horse talk” with Carlos Tabernaberri.  Your tour hosts, Jen and Jeremy will match you with your horse for the holiday program.

The focus this morning is on groundwork and getting the relationship with your horse right on the ground – so it can be right under saddle.  With Carlos’ instruction, the team of horses will work with you to develop skills and savvy in the arena and over the obstacle course before you take a ride in the local surrounding forest. Whilst you ride and work on your skills under watchful guidance you can enjoy Tasmania’s abundant wildlife and beautiful scenery.

Day three 15th Friday

Your understanding of “Through the Eyes of the Horse” will expand under Carlos training session.

Experience for yourself the obstacle course and get answers to all your questions on horsemanship as you work with your horse.  From there we will explore the farms bush tracks and trail ride into eucalypt forests and farmlands.

Ride over Barratts Bridge and the picturesque Meander River. Follow the river along and ride up Long Ridge to the famous Montana Falls.

We venture to” 41 Degree South” – Salmon Farm – to indulge in their taste testing and enjoy a delicious lunch of smoked salmon platters. The ride home is through farmlands and bush and a neighbourly stop at local yet world-class jewellers, McLachlan Studios. The studio setting and unique designer jewellery will blow your mind.

Day four 16th Saturday

Groundwork with a goal. Make the groundwork count as you jump in the saddle and ride from the farm doorstep following the famous Tasmanian Trail to enjoy a billy tea overlooking majestic Quamby Bluff and Golden Valley.  This day is full of surprises and beautiful riding trails.

When you get back to the farm you will feel that muscle soreness that only comes from a big day in the saddle.

Its back to Bonneys Inn to relax and dine and enjoy a massage. (additional cost)

Day five 17th Sunday

Let’s head off bright and early to the beach of famous Narawntapu National Park – Tasmania’s smallest national park and the only one where horses are allowed access to its trail and beach ride of 16kms. The wildlife is prolific, wombats and wallabies escort you to the beach, dolphins frolic in the waves in front.  Carlos will commence the ride with a groundwork session in the national park paddocked area before we head off trailblazing on the deserted beach.

On route back to the Bonneys Inn or Launceston, you will experience the cream of Tasmanian fine food. Christmas hills raspberry farm, Ashgrove Cheese, and the House of Anvers Chocolate factory. The tour finishes approx 5pm
