The best way to see this scenic mountain range is on the back of a locally bred Andalusian horse.
About The Ride
Home to Spain’s largest population of Ibex, the Sierra de Gredos, is an area that has remained untouched by mass tourism.
Explore ancient mountain paths once used exclusively by smugglers and bandits, or venture into the chosen hunting grounds of General Franco himself.
Ride home-bred Spanish horses that live in free-roaming herds and enjoy the uncomplicated yet delicious cuisine of the area, which includes tasty chorizo sausage and jamon serrano–Spain’s famous mountain-cured ham.
The terrain defines the pace on these mountainous trips. You can look forward to canters and trots in the valleys combined with a relaxing pace while traversing steeper trails.
During these climbs you can expect some incredible panoramic views and sightings of fauna such as Ibex and eagles. A typical day riding has between 4 and 6 hours in the saddle with a siesta breaks in the middle of the day in the outdoors.
